I made this wool bowl on the potter's wheel. A somewhat particular technique: the walls must be a little thick at the bottom, and the bottom must be very thick to guarantee good stability in use.
Once turned, I have to create the notch to pass the wool thread. Here too a special technique: I first draw the spiral in pencil to engrave the pattern a little, and then I take the scalpel. And there, for delicate work, it's delicate work... Be careful, the clay remains fragile until it is fired. I think ceramics have required the most precision and attention of all the pieces I have made since I started. Patience and diligence...
Long drying time, approximately 1 month for this pottery. The very thick base needs to be completely dry before cooking to avoid bursting in the oven.
After the first firing, it is the glazing phase. And I am really delighted with the result! I applied the enamel with a brush, in 3 layers + the superposition of the creamy white enamel which gives this beautiful effect.
Baking at 1250°C then and presto, out of the oven and a nice surprise!
